It’s a place that has a self-manifested murti of Lord Hanuman Ji that stands as tall as 108 feet high. Here you can also see people chanting “Sri Ram, Jai Ram, Jai Jai Ram” throughout the day. History of Pracheen Hanuman Mandir, Delhi

According to the legends, the foundation of the Pracheen Hanuman Mandir was initially held by Maharaja Man Singh I of Amber. Also known as Mirza Raja Man Singh, Maharaja Man Singh was the most trusted and reliable member of the Mughal Emperor Akbar. Later, in the year 1724, several amendments were done to it by Maharaja Jai Singh II to enhance its overall beauty and make it a notable pilgrimage site located in the heart of Delhi.

It is believed that Tulsidas, who wrote Ramcharitmanas and other famous books like Hanuman Chalisa, visited the Pracheen Hanuman Mandir during his visit to Delhi. At that time, he was asked to appear in front of the Mughal Emperor and perform a miracle to prove his blind faith in Lord Hanuman. After that, he took the blessings from Lord Hanuman and showed the miracle to every one whosoever was present there. The emperor was quite impressed with him and hence, thought of gifting the Islamic crescent Moon finial to the Hanuman Temple.

There is a saying that due to the presence of the crescent moon finial in the temple, the Pracheen Hanuman Mandir had not been shattered by Muslim invaders who ruled Delhi multiple times.
